OpenDoTT (Open Design of Trusted Things) "is a PhD programme* to explore how to build a more open, secure, and trustworthy Internet of Things". I have moved to Dundee to work at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in the first phase of the programme, and will be relocating to Berlin soon.

My topic in the project is "smart cities". I am documenting in this blog what I am reading, learning and discovering as I go deeper into my research. I will also maintain a list of links with the opendott tag in my infinite bookmark collection..

As part of the Repair Journey research study, I decided to apply to myself what I am asking participants to do. So upon asking them to keep a repair diary for what was originally meant to be two weeks, I started a diary myself.

Two weeks into it, it feels the duration is somewhat arbitrary. Amid a...

Last month as the UK slowly went into its own type of lockdown mode, I used the remaining freedom of exercising outdoors and brought my kids to cycle towards the Riverside Nature Park:

After meeting (on video) with a new member of my supervisory team last week, I started thinking about a possible parallel of waste and the kind of novelty offered by ride-sharing platforms. These relatively new alternatives can in some cases be seen as more efficient than public transport - that is,...

Still transcribing and editing some reflections about, among other issues, the impact of the current events in my research. As already mentioned in my research blog, I had some concrete plans for the near future. Part of it was performing an ecosystem mapping: I would visit diverse organisations, pr...

As mentioned elsewhere in my research blog, I have been using an audio recorder to document musings while in voluntary confinement. Here’s an edited (and expanded) transcript of some of these recordings, made some days ago. It does not necessarily lead to coherent thinking. Rather, I see it as a way...

At this moment, everywhere in the world, immense pressure is being put over services such as the public health system, utilities and the production of essential goods such as food, medical supplies and protective gear. As usual, I have been thinking about the other end of industrial production. As u...

Trying to keep personal notes during the Corona outbreak (and links here), and to understand how these times will ping back into my research. I'll be posting some of these notes in this blog, and right now I'm more aware of the fragility of its current form. My blog is hosted in someone else's ser...
